Gut Check

Click for the article - Can "Gut Instincts" Get You Ahead? from
"The Daily Journal - A Publication of The McGraw-Hill Companies"

I think that intuition is the most under utilized gift that we possess. How often have you had a "gut feeling" about something or someone? Did it turn out right or wrong? My wife swears that I have "female intuition". Many, many times I can sense things about a person in the first meeting. I think the gift was a genetic transfer from my mother who always knew when I climbed out the window after I thought she was asleep.

Have you every done anything really stupid (admit it) and your gut told you not after, but before the act that it was wrong? We all have. Did your gut prevail? Gauging by the (pick one of the following): hangover, ticket, black eye, you ignored your gut and jumped headfirst into the slow motion "Oh poop" moment. Did you happen to say afterwards "I knew that was going to happen?"

Why do we do these things? Heck if I know. But I do know this- if you take just a split second and do a "gut check" your level of success will improve.

When you next meet someone look in their eyes. Take a moment to let the impressions sink in. After the meeting take a few quiet moments to picture their face again, replay their  mannerisms. Do this a few times and I promise that things will start to surface. You will find that your "antennae" becomes better tuned.  Intuition can be a learned trait.

All it takes is a moment to let your gut rule.
